چکیده

Recently, the search for novel products derived from natural sources has become necessary due to decreasing effectiveness of current antibiotics in treating bacteria that are antibiotic-resistant. In this context, it is well known entomopathogenic (EPBs) produce a broad range secondary metabolites with antibacterial activities. Therefore, an in-vitro trial was conducted isolate and identify non-symbiotic associated nematodes, Steinernema spp. evaluate activity against four antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Four bacterial isolates, i.e. Pseudomonas alcaligenes ST-1, Paenibacillus barcinonensis ST-2, Bacillus mojavensis ST-3, megaterium ST-4 were non-symbiotically isolated heamolymph dead Steinernema-infected Galleria mellonella larvae molecularly characterized. The cells filtrates P. ST-1 strongly inhibited growth Staphylococcus aureus through disk diffusion (43 mm), minimum inhibitory concentration (2.5 µL/mL), minimal bactericidal (5 µL/mL) assay. Conclusively, direct application endogenous Steinernema-associated EPB as agent looked promising.

Antibacterial Activities of Extracellular Metabolites of Symbiotic Bacteria, Xenorhabdus and Photorhabdus Isolated from Entomopathogenic Nematodes

Xenorhabdus and Photorhabdus are members of the family Enterobacteriaceae, and are engaged in a mutualistic association with the entomopathogenic nematodes, Steinernema and Heterorhabditis, respectively. In the present study, the organic fraction of ethyl acetate bacterial crude extracts of the symbiotic bacteria, Xenorhabdus stockiae and Photorhabdus luminescens isolated from entomopathogenic ...

Isolation and Identification of Photorhabdus Luminescens an Insect Pathogenic Bacteria Associated with Entomopathogenic Nematode

Photorhabdus luminescens is a gram negative symbiotic bacterium belonging to the family Enterobacteriaceae, and is a lethal pathogen of insects. It lives in the gut of an entomopathogenic nematode of the family Heterorhabditidae. When the nematode infects an insect, P. luminescensis released into the blood stream and rapidly kills the insect host by producing toxins. So the present study was ca...

Soil sampling and isolation of entomopathogenic nematodes (Steinernematidae, Heterorhabditidae).

Entomopathogenic nematodes (a.k.a. EPN) represent a group of soil-inhabiting nematodes that parasitize a wide range of insects. These nematodes belong to two families: Steinernematidae and Heterorhabditidae. Until now, more than 70 species have been described in the Steinernematidae and there are about 20 species in the Heterorhabditidae. The nematodes have a mutualistic partnership with Entero...
